“A good education is the greatest gift you can give yourself or anyone else.” Mahtab Narsimhan 2012-2013 to 2022-2023 Celebrating Our 10th Anniversary! Greetings! As the summer vacation envelops EEESMA School for the Deaf, we reflect upon the remarkable journey we’ve shared this past year with our students and educators. Our hearts swell with pride as we enjoy and share the last day of school on July 14th. This day not only marked the beginning of summer break but also celebrated the accomplishments of three exceptional young women, Laura, Abril and Montserrat, shining stars within the EEESMA community. Montserrat’s Inspiring Journey: This year, we are proud to share the inspiring story of Montserrat, a recent addition to the EEESMA family. Montserrat has adjusted exceptionally well to her new environment, feeling comfortable and accepted by her peers. Her dedication and hard work have been evident as she strives to excel in her academics. With the support of our nurturing community, we have every confidence that Montserrat will go on to achieve great things. Abril’s Spirit: Driving Her To Excel: Abril, with her infectious enthusiasm and unwavering determination, stood at the threshold of a new chapter in her education journey – a transition from primary school to middle school. Her radiance was palpable as she embraced this milestone with open arms. Equipped with a thirst for knowledge, Abril’s eagerness to conquer the challenges of math and written Spanish is truly inspiring. Her mastery of Mexican Sign Language has blossomed, enabling her to communicate effortlessly and swiftly.Beyond academics, Abril’s involvement in extracurricular activities is a testament to her overall development. From engaging enthusiastically in the chess club to demonstrating prowess in karate and honing her computer skills, Abril embodies the spirit of exploration and growth. Notably, she has emerged as a true leader, guiding her peers to new experiences and imparting her young wisdom with compassion. We are immensely proud of Abril’s achievements and recognize her as a shining example of the potential that flourishes under the guidance of exceptional educators like Laura. Laura’s Triumph: Empowering Minds and Hearts Laura’s journey at EEESMA has been nothing short of remarkable, advancing from being a student at EEESMA herself to now being a teacher. Having recently attained her undergraduate degree in education, she assumed the mantle of leadership as the head of the primary school program. Her impact has been profound, both in the classroom and in the hearts of her students and colleagues. Laura’s unique perspective, being deaf herself, allows her to connect with her students on a level that transcends language barriers. As a fluent user of sign language, she embodies the essence of understanding and empathy, providing a haven for students to express themselves without hindrance.Laura’s achievements are a testament to her dedication and resilience. Her journey is a beacon of hope, demonstrating that challenges can be overcome with determination and diligence. EEESMA is privileged to have Laura as a role model, representing the embodiment of triumph in the face of adversity. A Collective Triumph: Celebrating Success At the heart of EEESMA’s success lies the collective efforts of all of our students and faculty. The achievements of each student are a testament to their hard work, supported by the unyielding dedication of our educators. Together, we have woven a tapestry of accomplishments, fostering an environment where dreams are nurtured and potentials realized. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all students, educators, and supporters of EEESMA for a year marked by triumphs, growth, and determination. Your commitment to our mission is the cornerstone of our success, and we look forward to continuing this journey together. To learn more about EEESMA School for the Deaf and stay connected with our community, please visit our website at www.eeesma.com to sign up for the quarterly newsletter. With great appreciation,John Doherty There are no government-supported schools for the Deaf in the state of Guanajuato. Public schools offer little or no sign language instruction. Opened in 2012, EEESMA offers kids who are Deaf a better chance in life. We need your help to ensure EEESMA School for the Deaf continues to offer Deaf Education to children and young adults in the area. There are no other options. The ability to attract and retain well-qualified teachers with Mexican Sign Language skills continues to be a big challenge. We are addressing that challenge by training teachers from within. Please join us in continuing to build a great school for deaf children. Fundraising at EEESMA is accomplished exclusively by volunteers.#deafeducation#deafpride#signlanguage “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart.
