Get Involved! There is no one else to make it work — we have no paid staff.
As we grow and evolve, we find that new ideas and the capacity to develop them very often come from new volunteers.
From time-to-time there will be specific jobs and special events for which we need help. Watch this website for announcements. But if you’re interested in our projects and fundraising activities and would like to participate, don’t hesitate to contact us anytime.
We’ll find something for you to do.
Better yet, the ideas can come from you.
For instance, if you make things that you sell directly to the public — like painting, pottery, clothing, or other things artisanal — consider having a benefit-show of your work, with a portion of the proceeds going to support an Amistad Canada project, some of which will come back to you as tax savings. We can help you find new customers, and you can help us make contact with new supporters.
When you’re having a birthday party, an anniversary, a dinner, or any special event, and you tell your friends and family — ‘No gifts please!’ — they often bring you something anyway. Consider inviting them to instead make a donation (and receive a tax-receipt) in honour of your event. Since we have a link with CanadaHelps.org, they will be able to do it easily via the internet. We can even help you set up a ‘Giving Page’ specifically devoted to your event
If your work or other activities relate to our project activities, think about how you can help us get our message out to your friends and colleagues. Together we might be able to organize an information session or a fundraising event that will be enjoyed by all involved.
